My Family and I are looking to create an Ecovillage
About Me

Spring 2016

We are moved to Southern Indiana in the Palmyra area. We are the only family that stepped out and moved, found new jobs and a piece of property. We have chickens and ducks, in the process of building a bigger chicken house. I am creating the garden's and watching the weather, sun and other natural habits going on around here and creating a positive permaculture living space. Hope to clear the space for an orchard this summer as we go. Planning on planting pumpkins and also attending Farmers Markets with produce and hand crafts. The property isn't as big as if more families were in on it but I believe it can sustain a few families well. There are many opportunities for teaching in this area and I believe it is our responsibility to share the knowledge of a more natural sustainable life style.

Send us a note if you are interested in visiting this summer. Our Email, facebook page and Groups address are all listed below. Bring a tent, we have the bonfire covered! - kirsten

Winter 2011

We have come to the conclusion that we keep putting off making a move to self sustainability. We want to begin this process by moving to a warmer climate ( Southren Indiana) where my children are not locked inside playing video games while the snow swirls outside 9 months out of the year and purchasing land by fall 2012, we currently have 5 families involved, 2 are undecided in actually making the move but love the idea and have wonderful input.

I am a Mother, was a day care mom for 16 years, a Master Gardener, have gardened and preserved food for years, My husband is a full time Paramedic who grew up on an island. We both love the idea of having acres around us with chickens, goats, rabbits, bees and becoming self sustaining. We both are anxious to build a cob building and have decided to practice on a chicken coop first.... we adopted a couple of kids and also have grandchildren who need to run and play. We know this intentional village will take the skills of many people and wish to be a part of it!

Our goal is to coexist with the earth  and to become as self sustaining as possible and to ultimately eliminate our ties to fossil fuels, to leave as small a carbon footprint as possible in as many ways as possible  and to create this environment for as many men, woman and children as possible. While we are becoming proficient in living in a way that is good to the earth we will strive to educate the surrounding community and people in positive  ways to effectively live on this earth without harming and to share life experience from the inside of an intentional self sustaining community.

Send me an email I would love to hear from you.

My Ideas and Dreams about Eco-Village Living

I envision like minded people together working toward self sustainability and creating a nitch where we can raise our children and educate the surrounding community in the benifits of using natural ingredients in our meals, homes, clothes and all other aspects of our lives.

I believe the land trust and the cooperative with the non profit status is the way to go. It ensures the future and eliminates that worry about "is this where I can put down my roots?" and allows us to create personal healthy living spaces. Putting personal energy into sharing and teaching what is learned and trying the "newest" (probably the oldest) way of accomplishing our goals. I see workshops and classes being taught by what we have learned by doing and people taking these ideas and using them in a way to reduce our distruction of this earth also passing these learned skills on to others and to the children so they might learn and create an even better life on this planet.
