About Me

FYI: in the state/province section it says that I live in CA.  I do not!  I live in Switzerland, but eventually would like to live in an eco-village either in California or Oregon.  I am an American citizen.  My family and I just thought it would be exciting to live in Europe for a few years!  With that said, we would like to move back within the next five years or so.  In the mean time I was hoping to educate myself on a few topics: natural building, permaculture, biodynamic farming, and renewable energy.

I am married and have a three year old daughter.  We would like to have one more child within the next year though.  Concerning my personality, I am easy going, at times hard-headed, philosophical, meditative, hard-working, and musical.  I am educated in Biology and environmental science.  I also have a teaching degree (k-8).  Currently, my wife is an engineer and I am a classroom teacher at an international school.  My wife is looking to find more meaningful ways to use her skills and I would like to one day expand my classroom role into teaching workshops about eco-village design.

I've been interested in the idea of sustainable communities for a few years now.  After taking some time to observe what was going on around me and what I was a part of, I began to feel a great dissatisfaction with the current system of living, and the direction in which the world and its politics were heading.  Sustainability has now become a burning passion within me.  It seems to be all I think about aside from family, spirituality, and work.

My Ideas and Dreams about Eco-Village Living

As I am sure you would all agree, this type of experience and knowledge needs to be shared in order that we change the current paradigm.  So, I have also imagined, as stated in my bio, that we would provide workshops for the public, which could also provide additional income to the community.  I'm sure many creative ways to earn money will arise, but the other obvious one is to sell produce at local farmers markets.

More to come later.......
